Since I started my fiamily tree, I have always believed that the Toomey's were of English heritage, today I found them in the 1900 census, and he is now listed as Irish, not I know this is not an all to end all answer, but its not the first time that I found info referancing this. 
Any help in narrowing down the truth would be greatly appreciated.
