Bereaved Consumers Protection Act

Today U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush introduced a bill that would force cemeteries to keep better records and to have them available at the federal, state, and local levels.  I think this will be great in the long run for genealogy if the bill passes.    If they force each state to have the same information recorded at the cemetery you will know up front what you will be getting from the cemetery instead of hopes and prayers that they might have something on your kin.

I am not even sure what cemeteries are supposed to keep on file and what you can get from them genealogy wise.  The only cemetery that I have gotten information from was the Dunmore Cemetery in Pennsylvania.  They were extremely helpful, but the most they were able to provide was the plot information.

Whats everyone opinion on the bill?  I would like to hear your thoughts.
